How to choose a DSLR camera?
Digital Single Lens Reflex or DSLR are increasing becoming more popular among the armature thanks to its decreasing price over time and manufacturers develop more user friendly models.
In this blog post, I’ll share with you 5 factors to consider before choosing a DSLR.

How to decide which DSLR camera to buy?
So which DSLR camera is right for you? There are so many of DSLR camera out there in the market so you have to be really thinking hard before buying.
Below are some factors I used when deciding which DSLR camera is right for me:
1- Price
Duh! You are right, price is important since you need to have a certain budget in mind first before you can go down to the mega shopping mall to make the DSLR camera purchase. Furthermore, manufacturers produce a wide range of DSLR camera for every budget from a lower end to extremly high prices at the professional end.
Wait! when buying a DSLR camera, you will/may need the following items as well, so do factor these camera accessories into your budget as well:
- Lenses – Some DSLR cameras are sold with kit lenses but soon or later you may want to upgrade for its quality is not the best.
- Batteries – All DSLR models come with batteries but you may want to get a spare batteries
- Camera Bag – Not all dealers may give you a free bag and you definitely find one handy, so set aside a budget for the camera bag.
- Humidifier – Well, if you are living in humid country, you may want to consider having the humidifiers to protect your precious DSLR camera.
2- What will you use the DSLR for?
I remember the first time I had my DSLR, I’ve asked for an opinions from a friend of mine and the second thing he asked (after my budget) was what do I want to use the camera for? For instance, you may want to use your DSLR camera for traveling photos, capturing great events in your life, macro photography etc. Well, you may want to say you want to do all these types of photography. Trust me, most of us can only do half of what we think we can or will.
3-DSLR size
Obviously, DSLR cameras are bigger than normal compact point and shoot cameras but there are quite a wide range of DSLR type out there with different size. Hence, you may want to consider which size suits you best.
4- Resolution
How many megapixel does it have? is another question that is often asked. If you dont need to print what you captured, you may not need a large megapixel camera. In other words, resolution comes into play in a situation of HOW you will use your images. If you plan to just use it for online web publishing like blog, a smaller megapixel cameras will just do!
5- Sensor size
This is another important factors for professional photographer. It involves with a term called “crop factor”. What I can tell you now is that the lower the crop factor the better it is. Of course, the price would be higher for that matter.
So next time you go down to the shopping mall, remember to think of the five factors above.
